Another set of rooms ready to go

Well we’ve been working hard on the detail. another pair of rooms is just about ready to go. Rachel has sourced some locally made furniture to use in the rooms (only had one photo at time of writing, more to come). Managed to get more good beds and bedding into the new rooms. Expecting yet more guests in next few days. Its definitely a great time to be welcomed at our Lodge.

Well things are really pushing ahead now. Lots of minor changes being made and final touches being organised. Rachel is working extremly hard to ensure that all our customers, have a perfect stay at the lodge. (including those who arrive prior to opening). We’ve still got plenty to do of course, but as long as the lodge is comfortable, the food fulfilling and the park is open – we know you are going to enjoy your stay with us.

A little entertainment pre-opening

Without local contribution and assistance we wouldnt be here, so wherever possible we invite our neighbours, and the local workers to come along where we play host. Having members of the local Tharu community visiting the lodge is a wonderful way for guests to experience local customs and culture.

It’s early days as we start to entertain our first guests, despite the Lodge not being officially open yet. We’ve entered a few photos taken over the past week or so of a few sightings.

Our first impromptu guest! All the way from Switzerland

What a great week in terms of getting things finalised. We even welcomed our first guest. A swiss guy that has driven overland from Switzerland, that just had to stay, despite not really being open just yet.

Our impromptu guest was treated to a Thai curry by Madhu and Shitram as he had a few European supplies in his vehicle.

Mats, plumbing and an invite to the ‘Bardia Tourist Board’

Bamboo matting erected and looks good, It really has added to the cosiness of the cottages.

Plumber ready to install new stop gate valves for each cottage. Narayan and Madhu went to Nepalganj to source other materials, some things that are unobtainable locally require a trip across the border to India

Rachel has been invited by the Bardia Tourist Board to attend next month’s Lodge Meeting and has been told that people are excited to meet with her. We’re all very pleased at the response we are getting from the locals. Ultimately its what this lodge is all about.

Tiling and Solar panels

The lodge manager (Rachel), has worked incredibly hard to ensure that the solar panels are all in place and that the most efficient use of power is fully functional. It’s not been easy, getting the right parts installed but we’re there now. Tiling has also been mostly completed, and again has not been without its difficulties – but its almost completed now.

The Lodge gains a Manager

October has been a good month and it just got better. Rachel Watkins, with a wealth of experience in dealing with multiple cultures, and a love of Nepal and everything Nepalli, has taken over the management of the lodge.

Water supply just about ready

Well we now have the water tower in place, and all the infrastructure pipes for water supply and waste. Also the toilet design is now finalised and building can now progress ahead with the bathrooms. Drainfield and distibution tanks were covered. Several more cottages have been built and some final landscaping has been organised.
